C4D 406 Communication for Community Drug Rehab Programs

Communication is a key component of many community development interventions.

For drug rehabilitation, changes in attitudes and behaviors among various stakeholders are important. Program implementors such as barangay captains, barangay tanods, health workers, policemen, social workers all need to acquire the right knowledge, attitudes and skills in order to implement a highly functional community drug rehabilitation program.

C4D 406 is a blended learning course that equips communication or development professionals involved in drug rehab programs to apply Communication for Development tools developed by USAID, Johns Hopkins University, the CHANGE Project, C4C School, and UNICEF.

This course aims to engage volunteer faculty and students of communication and health who want to contribute to accelerating community drug rehabilitation programs in their own municipalities.

At the end of this course, the learners are expected to:

1. accelerate treatment completion rates for community-based drug rehabiliation programs at the LGU levels

2. design and pre-test a communication campaign to engage a specific audience in community-based drug rehabilitation

3. deepen social involvement and leadership development of young Filipinos through service-learning
